December heralds our 20th birthday, and with two decades to look back on, we’ve been reflecting. One of our favorite things about water is that it absorbs laterally and vertically. It permeates every space, making it the perfect medium through which to deliver wholesale transformation.

In short, water changes everything. A single drop creates a ripple — and 20 years of service has shown us that the ripple never stops. We have witnessed what washes into each new generation born to a life where clean water can be taken for granted.

Because water always seeks level, it is the medium through which we can level the playing field — through which we can bring people to a position where they can govern their own rise to abundance. It’s how we address the injustice that is water scarcity.

In the pyramid of human needs, water is the foundational element. By catching clean, pure rain in families’ backyards, we save women and girls from the long, dangerous walk to fetch it. We need food just as much as we need water — so we deliver greenhouses with each tank we build. With enough to drink and eat, health improves; fewer schooldays are missed; women turn their time and attention to income-generating activities that empower them. As women thrive, so do their families, and then whole communities. Insufficiency becomes sufficiency — then plenitude.

Our birthday coincides with Tanzania’s rainy season — a time to celebrate Nature’s infinite abundance. We can’t wait to share our gratitude for the many gifts these years have held, and to thank you for your generous giving.

Thank you for being the ripple that never stops.

To mark 20 years, we’re inviting small acts with big reach. A $20 gift helps bring clean water home — 25 such gifts fund a family’s residential tank. If you’re moved, give once, join at $20/month, or gather 25 friends to fund a tank together.
