At our house, we have a pond that’s filled by a rainwater harvesting system. You can see it clearly from my mom’s kitchen window. That view shows how water connects everything. Sometimes a mother bear teaches her cubs to swim. Sometimes, the father bear nose-dives in clumsily. Deer, fox, and rabbits rest nearby, only getting up to drink after lying too long in the sun. They feel safe, and we get the honor of experiencing their grace. The accessibility of water draws them in, brings us together, and noticing this connection feels both magical and powerful. It reminds us that we’re all in this together, and that when it comes to clean water, solutions that help one help us all.
In light of that togetherness, it felt appropriate to introduce you to the newest members of the Save the Rain team. Please meet Jeff, Judith, and Ali — each has joined Save the Rain to help us navigate the next chapter of our service.

Jeff is our newest board member. He is passionate about giving the world access to our technology. He feels the world’s injustices deeply and channels his drive and integrity into helping us explore new visions, scalable models, and even greater possibilities.
A note from Jeff Davi: I am incredibly proud of the extraordinary work Save the Rain has accomplished over the past 20years. But now it is time to take what we have learned and turn our efforts toward the world. It is almost incomprehensible that today billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water. We cannot accept this. We know there is a simple sustainable solution literally falling from the sky – raining down right where people live and learn. We must band together to help the world catch it—and together, we can solve the global water crisis.

Judith joined Save the Rain Tanzania and, from day one, became a fierce protector and sensitive ear to the team. She came to help us systemize our work but is also creating new avenues of service to systemize. Her example helps other women find their power so they can protect themselves, their children, and the future.
A note from Judith Merino: My years in community development have taught me that true transformation never happens in isolation; it happens when people are supported to rise, and children are given room to thrive. That is why Save the Rain touches my heart so deeply. Creating opportunities at home for families to harvest rainwater, practice sustainable farming, and build economic resilience isn’t just about infrastructure; it’s about dignity, resilience, and hope. Every tank built and every cooperative supported gives a mother time back to lead her family to prosperity and gives a child a healthier, brighter future. What I love most about Save the Rain is that we create lasting change, one drop and one family at a time.

When we met Ali, she immediately showed a deep understanding of Save the Rain’s soul. She chose words like pure, authentic, and integral—all of which perfectly reflect her. Ali joined Save the Rain to help us take the next step in funding. She serves as a perfect bridge, with essential knowledge of both development and funding.
A note from Ali Carey:I spent much of the past decade in rural Tanzania, where I saw firsthand how central clean water is to a community’s health and daily life. What sets Save the Rain apart from other water initiatives across Tanzania is our commitment to working hand in hand with the communities we serve. Our giver-receiver model — where the hands that build each system belong to the very families who depend on it — builds genuine ownership from day one, which is why our impact lasts and ripples far beyond water itself. I have seen many water organizations in my time in East Africa, but I’ve never seen one get it right until now.

We are so very grateful to these three brilliant people for their commitment not only to the mission but also to the ethics and vision. We don’t always choose the fastest or easiest way, but rather the way that makes a lasting difference.
Which brings us to you, our supporters. Thank you for your time, your dollars, and your commitment. Now more than ever, we need to restore faith and remember the powerful magic of our togetherness. It is the only way to make this world a better place for all. They say it takes a village. Thanks for being ours.
With much gratitude,
Kelly Coleman
