Thanksgiving has its roots in sharing gratitude for the blessings of the harvest.
In Tanzania, this celebration coincides perfectly with harvesting rain. November sweeps in storms that steep the earth in new life, and our tanks on schools and homes brim with hope and possibility.
Fields are filled with farmers planting in the rich, dark soil. To sow seeds is an act of faith, an affirmation of a belief in abundance in the bounty that is to come. Water builds a bridge to the future.
Today, we give thanks, knowing that all our recipients are falling asleep to the sound of rain on their rooves, and each drop in each tank is a deposit on a future of possibility, abundance, hope, empowerment, and love.
With immense gratitude,
